Taverners present £1000 to Loughborough hospice

by

One of the best motorcycle shows in the country is the Founder’s Day Rally organised by the Taverners section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club at Stanford Hall, Lutterworth – and each exhibitor is asked to donate a stall item or make a donation to the section’s chosen charity.

This year the section is supporting the Rainbows charity, and after an auction of the collected items at a club meeting on Thursday, October 12, and the money had been counted, members met up on their mainly vintage motorcycles for a Sunday ride to the Rainbows hospice in Loughborough to meet the staff and children and present a cheque for £1000.

Children at the Rainbows hospice in Loughborough gather round as a cheque for £1000 is presented to the charity from the Taverners section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club.

The children in the hospice’s care enjoyed watching the motorcycles arrive, and were also allowed to sit on the bikes for photos.

The extremely active Taverners section meets on the second and last Thursdays of each month at the Ratby Sports and Social Club in Ratby, Leicestershire, and runs regular weekend events including a trials championship. If you’re interested in joining, why not pop along?

The section’s calendar of events can be found on its website, www.thetaverners.com.

We are grateful to Peter Monk for this report.
