Now in its 29th year, the Taunton Classic Motorcycle Club’s Exmoor Run will take place on August 13.
Starting and finishing at Sheppy’s Cider south of Taunton, the route will take in some 110 miles of glorious riding roads venturing into the wilds of Exmoor with a stop for lunch in Dulverton. There will be a coffee stop somewhere along the way in the morning, and refreshments such as bacon butties, tea and cake at Sheppy’s at the start and finish. The Taunton Classic MCC is clearly a club after our own hearts.
The ride is suitable for all manner of roadworthy old motorcycles and everything pre-2003 and road legal is welcome, but it is especially aimed at classic and vintage bikes. The route will be marshalled by club members and volunteers (volunteer marshals always welcome!), while a chase recovery van and trailer will also be in attendance, in case anyone should splutter to a halt in a mobile phone black spot.
At the finish there will also be the presentation of a number of awards.
You can buy tickets online, but there is a strict limit of 150 and the event has sold out in the past so don’t prevaricate.
(This year there is also a special opportunity to join the Taunton Classic Motorcycle Club at a discounted rate as part of the ticket purchase. See the additional ticket add-on option.) Not only will everyone get to have a grand day out in a wonderful part of this fair isle, but the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Freewheelers will also benefit.
