Rich vein of classic bikes for enthusiasts

Demob run is for forgotten era bikes from the 1931 to 1946 period

The run begins at the National Mining Museum Scotland, Lady Victoria Colliery, in Newtongrange, Midlothian, on Sunday, May 19.

It is being organised by Auld Reekie Edinburgh Section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club.

Section chairman Alastair Alexander said: “By attracting owners of bikes from 1931 to 1949 we are shining the spotlight on that era when significant advances were made in motorcycle design and performance.

“Machines from those two decades are pretty well matched in terms of performance and should have few difficulties with the planned 80 mile run heading south into Midlothian and the Scottish Borders. It will be a no frills affair in keeping with the spirit of the demobilisation days after the war.”

The event is open to VMCC and non-VMCC members so if you want to enlist contact the Recruiting Sergeant, George Plumb, on [email protected] or 0131 333 3336.
