After more than 40,000 enthusiasts from around the world voted for their favourites in a number of motor sport categories, motorcycling legend Mike Hailwood topped a shortlist including TT hero Joey Dunlop and American world champion Kenny Roberts, and was duly inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame at the Royal Automobile Club’s Woodcote Park estate on Monday, June 4.
At the star-studded event hosted by broadcaster Suzi Perry, Mike’s widow Pauline received the award from her late husband’s former Honda team-mate Stuart Graham.
Stuart spoke warmly of Mike, a nine-times Grand Prix world champion on 250cc, 350cc and 500cc machines, and entertained the audience with memories of their time together racing for the factory Honda team in 1966.
