Classic Dirt Bike Show set to be one of the best yet

by

The countdown has begun for the biggest classic off-road event of the year, the two-day Classic Dirt Bike Show at the Telford International Centre sponsored by Hagon Shocks over the weekend of February 17-18.

This year’s guest speakers at the traditional Saturday evening three-course dinner will be Gerrit Wolsink, Colin Dommett and Peter Duke.

Sammy shows off both his own Ariel and the factory AJS on which Gordon Jackson scored a one-dab victory in the 1961 Scottish Six Days’ Trial.

Wolsink is the Dutch five-times winner of the 500cc United States Grand Prix of Motocross, who also finished second in the 500cc world championship in 1976 and 1979, and third in 1975 and 1977.

Riding for Gloucester’s Cotton factory, Colin Dommett competed in the International Six Days’ Trial and in scrambling, and latterly became the voice of the classic scrambles scene behind the commentator’s microphone.

Peter Duke, founder of the Duke DVD empire and the son of the late Geoff Duke, has also been a successful off-road rider and ISDT competitor.
