Brave Dragonists enjoy Llyn Gwynant campsite in the sun

Colin Temple-Smith gives the thumbs up for his journey home on his Sunbeam S8. The accompanying S8 has some neat homemade leg shields, screen and panniers designed for minimum weight.

Is it really winter? There was no hint of wetness at this year’s Dragon Rally, my 19th, to which I rode my 600 1951 Norton Big 4 side-valve single – but 19 Dragons is nothing compared with an amazing number who have been to a lot more.

Like many more Dragonists, I stayed in ‘Betsy’ (Betws-y-coed) for Friday night and met up with many old friends – not camping, mind, but in comfort before going to the checkpoint the next day.

The checkpoint was at the cafe just past last year’s campsite at Capel Curig, which I remember as being about the best I’ve been to thanks to it freezing during the night and ensuring it didn’t become a quagmire.
